This project was aimed to connect two differing audiences through boundary objects that represented the beautiful seaside town of Tynemouth, North Tyneside.
I was deeply fascinated by the towns vast history and discovered how possibly the oldest pub in Tynemouth was named ‘The Gibraltar Rock’ Pub after soldiers stationed in Gibraltar returned from the Peninsular War via King Edwards Bay and stopped off at the pub for a refreshing drink. I liked the interesting fact behind the pubs name, that I designed a set of pint glasses to encourage local ex-servicemen and surfers to talk more about their own life stories together and gain new perspectives of each other and Tynemouth.
