About the programme

Welcome to MA Communication Design

This website showcases the work of our MA Communication Design graduates and current students here at Northumbria University. For people who are unfamiliar with our programme, it focuses on ‘design for good’ through on issue-based design research and cutting-edge design practice. We hope it’s design that makes a difference…

If you want to learn more about our programme you can visit our course pages at Northumbria University. In 2021 we have 19 graduating students, many of whom have work featured on this website. These students are from diverse educational backgrounds including: graphic design, fine art, animation, fashion communication and computer science.

This year, the students have explored a wide range of topics and project themes, and have collaborated with four external partners including digital start-up Gliff.ai, international fitness apparel brand Gymshark, business improvement district company NE1, and research project Intuit, which is investigating how design can positively affect personal health data sharing for people living with HIV. In addition to these opportunities, students have been encouraged to find their own collaborators when working on their final major projects, which is a key feature of this Masters programme.

Please enjoy looking through our students’ work and if you are potential collaborator or would like to learn more about our programme or students please get in touch.

Best wishes,
