Challenge:

A two week brief with a new group, to explore a chosen neighbourhood creating a response that will act as a boundary object to represent that place to a specific audience.

Response:

Grouped with Nathan and Kristyna we were given Ouseburn, and a student, visually impaired person, and business investor. One particular thing that struck us about Ouseburn was the sense of community, from helping men in wheelchairs, to helping a dog find its ball. A helping hand was never far away. We created a community centre called ‘Steel Angel’ ran by volunteers called ‘Steel Angels’, a place to bring community further together. The app allowed you to volunteer at independent businesses around Ouseburn in exchange for points, only spendable in the area. Different events would be ran at different locations to help spread customers across Ouseburn, with the business analytics on the app for potential investors.
