Brief:  How can I devise a design intervention that will positively change social attitudes towards catcalling?

The challenge is a response to the ongoing cultural and societal problem of violence against women. The project shifts the challenge towards the issue of catcalling and reframes the issue from a woman’s problem to a man’s problem.

The campaign is called ‘Educate Yourself Man!’ and has been developed with the branding of ‘CATCALLING’ and the hashtag #nocatcallsbro to promote the intervention further through social media and other marketing strategies. The intervention is in collaboration with White Ribbon UK, which is part of the largest leading global male-led movement to stop men’s violence against women.

The project educates men (ages 18-25) in the form of an interactive website, the intervention explains why catcalling is harmful, explores motivations, how women are affected and how men can help through self-reflection and further actions.
