Challenge:
The final part of the first brief was focused on developing a boundary object that communicated an idea derived from a given location. The research aspect of the brief involved collaboration, while the outcome had to be created independently. Tynemouth was the allocated area for the project, I chose to create a boundary object to connect two audiences – elderly people and children.
Response:
The final concept was a clay workshop centered around the Seal Hospital charity in Tynemouth. The outcome examples of clay pieces that could be made at the workshop, a brochure about the seal hospital which would explain to the visitors how they can help the charity, and an advertisement poster for the event. The clay workshop was supposed to be accessible and interesting to a range of audiences, from elderly people to parents with children. The clay workshop is inclusive and informative, it allows very different demographics to connect through art while also providing education and support for the charity organization.
