Challenge:
The primary focus of the third brief was speculative design. The aim was to create a product, service, or system that would contribute to a space mission to Harmonia, a dwarf planet discovered in the year 2025. The mission included several objectives, such as biological data collection, potential contact with alien life, and the development of technologies for future expeditions. Another aspect of the brief included producing a job advertisement for a design officer connected to the mission.
Response:
The final outcome is a space rover designed for biological data collection. RoNS rover- “recovery of natural samples”, combines current technologies into a functional all-terrain machine that scans, records, and preserves biological samples. The rover is presented in two scenarios: one being the release video showing the factory version of the robot, and the other a photograph of the rover on Harmonia. The outcome also includes a fictional article about the rover, a design officer recruitment poster, and a website mockup for the recruitment page.
