In this brief, we were asked to create products, services or systems that can be used to contribute to the success of the 2025 space mission to Harmonia. The mission plan for Harmonia was to collect geological, botanical and climate data. The brief also required that we created an advertisement for a design officer role that will be attached to the mission. The aim of this brief was to create a piece of speculative design called design fiction to help situate our future practice. Design fiction will be used to explore how design can create a future vison or reality.

My response to this brief was the creation of the H1- A spacesuit that was created as part of a collaboration with SpaceX and Assemble. Assemble is a spacesuit technology company that creates equipment for spacesuits to collect data on other planets. The equipment created for the H1-A spacesuit will be attached to the suit, controlled through a built-in control panel and be used to collect geological, botanical and climate data on Harmonia. Some of the equipment attached to the suit include ground penetrating radar boots to discover geological data under the surface, Laser induced breakdown spectroscopy arm which is used to analyse rock elements and a helmet air monitor used to analyse the particles in the climate. To bring the suit to life I created an interface design and a user manual. As part of this brief I created the design officer role of a product designer, working for Assemble, who will engineer and create the spacesuit attachments for the mission.
