NE1 set the brief of designing a mural situated in the Bigg Market, that can attract different audiences to the area such as families and older generations. In my response, I provided a mural design depicting Olaudah Equiano’s stay at the Bigg Market whilst on his book tour, campaigning for the abolition of slavery in the 18th Century. For my aspirational mural concept, I wanted to bring the once busy market culture in the Bigg Market back to life, through an immersive market scene stretching along the main walkway of the area. Engaging audiences with larger than life Geordie characters, which follow the story of Bigg the dog’s antics in the market through Augmented Reality.
