AIMAN NOOR – DIGITAL INNOVATION Project

Brief:

For this project, I was given a brief by “kids kabin” a charity working in low-income communities in Newcastle and Middlesbrough. In a competitive funding environment, they want Kids Kabin to standout from other charities. They aim to work on a range of creative, high-impact ways of telling the Kids Kabin story to a range of stakeholders, create alternative and innovative ways for children’s voices to be shared and exciting and accessible ways for children to communicate with others from different places. The kids kabin also want to design, pilot, and test an innovative idea or approach which they can take on and embed into their future practice.

Resonse:

As a response, I created a service design through publishing and E-magazine every month on multiple social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter etc) and the visibility of organisation on social media to promote the voices of children on different social media platforms and to gain stakeholders across different channels.

To execute this service, Firstly I created consent form for parents and guardians to fulfil the crucial safeguarding purpose. By implementing this consent form, I ensure the protection of children’s privacy and maintain compliance with safeguarding guidelines.

Secondly, I created a content planner for the Kids Kabin Volunteers to collect day-to-day stories, highlights of the charity, inspirational stories from workshops while ensuring safeguarding and privacy. This structured framework enables consistent and accurate documentation of meaningful experiences. The collected content was used in the E-Magazine and social media, showcasing the impact of Kids Kabin. The content planner-maintained integrity, trust, and respect, highlighting the growth facilitated by Kids Kabin’s workshops.

Lastly, I designed kids kabin E-magazine layouts to convey Kids Kabin values, inspirational stories, main highlights of the charity and day to day activities. Again, I wanted to keep it simple, look candid, and I wanted the overall feel of the magazine to eye catching to grab the attention of the viewers on social media and gain stakeholders.

My primary goal throughout this project was to effectively promote the message of Kids Kabin to stakeholders while amplifying the voices of the children involved. By creating visually appealing materials and sharing their stories, I aimed to create a deeper connection and foster empathy. Utilizing various communication channels, I sought to reach a wide audience and increase stakeholder involvement. Overall, my objective was to inspire support and engagement with the organization’s mission while ensuring that the stories and voices of the children remained at the forefront of the communication efforts.

I consider this brief to have been both challenging and deeply insightful. I am proud to have successfully tackled the task of service design to amplify the story of Kids Kabin and reach a wider audience. The solution I developed is highly achievable to create alternative and innovative channels of promoting the story of the organisation.

Collaborating with Kids Kabin throughout the process was a truly rewarding experience. From delivering presentations at their office to receiving valuable feedback and insights, I gained a strong sense of confidence in my work. The collaborative approach, combining research efforts and individual design solutions throughout the semester, proved to be immensely beneficial in shaping the project direction. One particularly enlightening aspect of the project was the opportunity to delve into the world of design for young people and explore strategic utilization of social media platforms as a means of engaging with stakeholders.
