AIMAN NOOR- SOCIAL INNOVATION PROJECT

Brief:

This project was created in collaboration with UK’s live organisation “Social Enterprises Network (SEN)”. I was given a brief to establish a strong online presence for the Social Enterprises UK Network (SEUK) in Newcastle Upon Tyne, with the goal of becoming the leading network for social enterprise directory in the UK. To achieve this, the network needs to develop appropriate branding and digital touch points and website prototype that effectively engage social enterprises, encouraging connections with each other and the wider business community.

Response:

As a response, I created Newcastle Social Enterprises brand identity which aims to showcase Newcastle Social Enterprises Network (NSEN) as strong community to support social enterprises in their local communities.

The logo I designed was simple, clear and bold yet roundness of the giving a sense of community, empathy, helpful, approachable, strong, inclusive and a network. The colours and overall feel of the brand was based on my research and brand mission and values and visualizing NSEN a strong identity. Learning from my market and user research, yellow and blue are associated with sunshine, trust and compassion and sustainability. Therefore, I felt these colour were right for the identity and also fulfilled the needs of collaborator. The final feedback from the collaborator for the logo was really positive.

I designed the working prototype of website for wider community to inform, connect and engage them with social enterprises and make social enterprises accessible for everyone and as well as provided a platform for social enterprises to grow their businesses in local communities.

I found this brief to be highly motivating, exciting, and experimental. I’m pleased to push my creative boundaries enough to successfully accomplishing the challenge of designing a directory for social enterprises. This solution effectively achieves the goal of establishing a robust online presence for the Newcastle Social Enterprises Network, encouraging social enterprises to connect with one another and the wider business community.
